Special Autonomous district Development Company of Jeju, South Korea introduced 2 krones production lines with conveyor system

Jeju Island located in the southernmost part of South Korea, is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site and ecological nature reserve. The island is 70 kilometers long and 30 kilometers wide and has a population of about 670,000. Hanna is 1950 meters above sea level. This krones equipment can be filled and packed in 2000ml and 500 ml bottles with a production capacity of 54,000 bottles per hour. In 2018, a second clause was added with a capacity of 82,000 bottles per hour and 500 ml PET bottles were filled. South Korean households prefer large packaging bottles, so the company decided to expand the production capacity of large bottles. As a state-owned enterprise, companies need to show high transparency and external independent experts must participate in the final selection. For all tenders, whether the first two lines or the current contract, the panel of different industry experts unanimously favors the Crance solution. He is also considering his current 60 employees in South Korea including more than 30 engineers. In December 2022, the company nominated Klens as the priority supplier and signed two contracts for the general contracting production lines with the same configuration. Capacity of 32,000 bottles per hour for filling and packaging 2000 ml PET bottles and factories are currently being built for two new lines. The two new lines have the same configuration from the bottle cap processing equipment to the pallet stack, all solutions are provided by Krones Group. The equipment includes: the fourth generation Contiform bottle blower (including PET-View testing system and Contifeed RS tally machine), Modulfill VFJ filling machine, Checkmat FM-X and Checkmat CI-C testing system, Variopac Pro FS packaging machine, Modulpal 2A palletizing,bottle conveyor system, case conveyor system，pallet conveyor system. In addition, krones subsidiary IPS Plastics provides processing units for bottle blanks and bottle caps.

The company attached great importance to sustainability and the solution was not yet available in South Korea. The latest generation of Contiform bottle blower has particularly high efficiency and has been enviro certified. It uses Air Wizard Triple technology, compared with the previous generation of models, the compressed air consumption is reduced by 20%, the bottle billet infrared heating furnace greatly reduces the energy consumption and thebottle conveyor system adopts the lubrication-free design.

The new line does not have a labeling machine because the company removed the bottle logo and simply sprayed a QR code on the cap. South Korea encourages the use of trademarked paper PET bottles through tax policies to facilitate recycling. At present, the bottled water industry has occupied more than half of the South Korean market. The trend of using paper bottles is also seen in other countries.
