Qual-IS™ is a unique solution developed by Sidel that integrates all quality-control activities—laboratory, traceability, and sampling—into one intelligent, digital, and fully connected platform. It represents a pioneering approach to quality management by driving quality instead of merely monitoring it.
More than 80% of grocery manufacturers identify product recalls as a significant or catastrophic financial risk, and nearly 60% have faced at least one recall in the past five years. For beverage and food producers, maintaining consistent quality and food safety is therefore a top priority.
Accessible via mobile, desktop, or HMI on the production line, Qual-IS™ combines six key modules: sampling plan, laboratory management, traceability, HACCP (hazard analysis and critical control points), calibration certificates, and overall quality status.
Traceability lies at the core of Qual-IS™. Each bottle receives a unique code linking all relevant information—preform, cap, product recipe, process parameters, and recorded events—throughout its manufacturing life.
Sampling is equally critical in quality control. Qual-IS™ includes both pre-set and customizable sampling plans, developed using Sidel’s 50-year experience in beverage production and statistical modeling. Using data intelligence, the sampling frequency automatically adjusts based on microbiological test results and adapts to different production lines.
Traditionally, data from production and laboratory tests are stored in separate databases. Qual-IS™ unifies these, enabling microbiologists to retrieve bottle data simply by scanning the unique code. The platform then displays the required tests, results, and customizable reports in an intuitive dashboard.
In aseptic production, HACCP systems are mandatory for identifying and managing critical control points (CCPs). Before production, bottlers define their CCPs and the procedures triggered when limits are exceeded. Through Qual-IS™, users can visualize CCP status and historical trends on a single screen. By scanning any bottle, CCP values are instantly available, improving accuracy and predictive capability.
Qual-IS™ also supports calibration management and integrates seamlessly with advanced sterilizer equipment and drying machines across the aseptic line. It stores all calibration certificates and displays their validity through a color-coded system:
Green – within validity period
Amber – approaching expiry
Red – expired, requires action
If a certificate expires, the system automatically alerts operators via Qual-IS™ notifications.
Operators can monitor production quality in real time through a visual dashboard, tracking trends, KPIs, and reports. Integrated conveyor systems link production data from preform blowing to final packaging, ensuring every process step remains traceable and optimized.
For producers entering the aseptic market, Qual-IS™ simplifies onboarding by guiding every step. For experienced manufacturers, it provides a unified platform to manage multiple lines and compare performance across plants—ensuring consistent, data-driven quality excellence.
